Job Title: Director of Philanthropy (Reports to President & CEO)
The Director of Philanthropy is a full-time, salaried position responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major donors for the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. The position will also focus on donor retention strategies and the growth of gifts by existing donors. The Director of Philanthropy works independently and as a member of the Development team working with the CEO, Vice President, CFO, and Director of Membership and Annual Giving to create and implement yearly strategic development plans focused on enhancing and expanding donor relationships, corporate solicitations, and major gift procurement.
+ Maintain a fast-paced schedule of face-to-face visits to steward current donors and to engage new major donor prospects.
+ Conduct prospect cultivation, directly and in cooperation with the executive leadership team, other staff and board members.
+ Manage stewardship strategy and activity and report on progress monthly.
+ Write individualized cultivation, solicitation and stewardship letters, proposals and reports.
+ Manage major donor and estate planning mailings.
+ Coordinate major donor cultivation events including exclusive cocktail parties, small dinners, and other cultivation activities.
+ Manage major donor communications.
+ Support and help lead the board Development Committee to leverage board member engagement in fundraising activities.
+ Serve as a key staff member for campaigns and other major gift funding initiatives.
The successful candidate will be interested in supporting the mission, vision, and brand of the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County. The successful candidate will have drive and ambition, excellent analytical and oral communication skills, extensive technical knowledge and expertise including Raisers Edge, and be someone who thrives in an especially creative and fun environment.
The ideal candidate will possess:
+ At least 5 years of successful fundraising and direct-solicitation experience.
+ Proven track record of fundraising success.
+ Ties to, contacts with, the cultural community.
+ Ability to engage in significant travel throughout the country and attend meetings, solicitation events, performances, and other donor-related functions both during daytime hours as well as evenings when required.
+ Exception interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
