Job Title: Communications Specialist
Salary: $19.35 per hour
+ Performs clerical and public relations work related to departmental communication functions.
+ Research departmental information; posts on social media and internet sites; creates, maintains, and distributes directories, manuals and other communication for internal and external use; prepares news releases for media distribution; confirms design materials are consistent with the Department’s branding guide; coordinates the development and set-up/breakdown of special events.
+ Possesses familiarity with the various programs/services/benefits of the Parks and Recreation Department.
+ Work is performed independently under general supervision and is reviewed through conferences and written reports.
+ Associate degree in Public/Media Relations, Communication, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
+ Minimum of one (1) year of office experience related to print/media relations, marketing or professional/business-level social media experience.
Preference for Experience:
Designing publications, newsletters; posting/updating information on professional social media sites (must specify on application); using Adobe Creative Suite (must specify on application). Also desirable: Bilingual (Spanish/Haitian Creole).
