Purpose of Classification
The purpose of this classification is to perform work supporting the City’s marketing initiatives and outdoor/indoor events.
The following duties and functions, as outlined herein, are intended to be representative of the type of tasks performed within this classification. They are not listed in any order of importance. The omission of specific statements of the duties or functions does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
+ Assists in the creation and execution of events, i.e. postcards, letters, presentations, and social media.
+ Partners with marketing and events personnel to implement community-wide outdoor/indoor events and programs and evaluates on a regular basis, making or recommending improvements and/or adjustments as needed.
+ Provides general support to the department in fulfilling the City’s extensive schedule of events and other stated goals and objectives.
+ Supports marketing and events staff with activities and assists with message development, outreach, and responds to businesses, residents, visitors and community groups regarding the programs, events and campaigns.
+ Collaborates with the department to create and execute events, programs and promotional campaigns. Serves on event planning committees.
+ Works closely with staff on departmental programs, events, non-profit organizations, civic groups, educational entities and special projects.
+ Performs administrative duties and compiles data for events or reports, as assigned, ensuring completion by specified deadlines and in accordance with outlined goals and objectives.
+ Uses social, digital, and other sources to engage external audiences.
+Serves as a City-brand ambassador at events and programs throughout the City.
+ This position requires working nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Must possess an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Events Management, Public Relations or a closely related field; and
+ Possess two (2) years of experience in planning and execution of Events; and
+ Possess, or obtain within fourteen (14) days of hire, and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license; and
+ Most complete a Crowd Control Certification within fourteen (14) days of hire.
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Marketing, Events, or closely related field.
+ Effectively communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, contractors, engineers, companies, vendors, outside agencies, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
+ Accurately and expeditiously receives and delivers messages and information to the appropriate individuals.
+ Ability to prepare accurate and thorough written records and reports.
+ Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervisory direction.
+ Ability to understand and quickly and accurately follow brief oral and written instructions on moderately complex matters.

+ Ability to attend meetings, community events, professional networking events, and trainings outside of the City’s standard business hours, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.
+ Knowledge of materials and equipment utilized in marketing and events.
+ Knowledge of PC Network Environments.
+ Knowledge of municipal principals and best practices of public communications and events.
+ Skilled in the writing, designing and production of publications.
+ Skilled in marketing and event development.
Physical and Sensory Requirements / Environmental Factors:
+ Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
+ Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
+ Environmental Factors: Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as traffic hazards.
