Salary: $48,268 Annually
Job Description: Responsible professional public communications work involving a variety of proactive public information programs. Coordinates various informational projects to keep the public aware of the Parks and Recreation Department’s programs, needs, special projects and accomplishments. Gathers, writes, and edits material to be released through social media, public engagements, websites, publications, and Department brochures and pamphlets. Attends on-site and off-site events. Heavy emphasis on video capturing and editing. Work requires some independent judgment and initiative; work is performed under the direct supervision of the Manager, Public Information Services, and is reviewed through conferences, periodic reports and evaluation of results achieved.

Hours—8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday. May be required to work occasional weekends or evening hours during special/community outreach events, and speaking engagements. Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or related field; minimum of one (1) year of experience in public affairs or public relations work including publication writing. Equivalency: Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree or related Associate’s Degree and three (3) years of related experience.
Preference for Experience with: Public speaking; managing an organization’s YouTube channel or similar video outlet; video journalism/recording/editing using Adobe Premiere (must specify on application); hosting a podcast or radio show.
