Public Relations Specialist – Palm Beach County Public Safety Animal Care & Control
Salary: $48,268 Annually
Hours: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday, but may be required to work occasional weekends or evening hours during special events and public outreach engagements.
Job Description: Responsible professional public communications work that involves a variety of proactive public information programs.
+ Coordinates a variety of informational projects to keep the public aware of the County’s animal care, enforcement and welfare programs, needs, special projects and accomplishments.
+ Work involves gathering, writing and editing material to be released to the news media, publications, and Department brochures and pamphlets as well as attending on-site and off-site events.
+ Heavy emphasis on social media and response to public concerns.
+ Work requires some independent judgment and initiative and is performed under the direct supervision of the Manager.
+ Live Release Programs, through conferences, periodic reports and evaluation of results achieved.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Multimedia Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field
+ Minimum of one (1) year of experience in public affairs or public relations work including publication writing.
+ Equivalencies: Related Associate’s Degree/unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of related experience OR graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and five (5) years of related experience.
Note: Preference for three (3) years of public relations experience.
